Lahore: Syed Jawad Naseem, Senior General Manager of Sui Northern Gas Company, says that in this winter season, domestic consumers will get gas only three times to cook food. The gas supply to the industry and commercial sector will also be difficult, while the Power, Fertilizers and CNG sector will also get less gas.
Jawad Naseem, in a discussion with businessmen at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, said that the gas in the system has been reduced and is dependent on imported RLNG which is very costly. He said that a new contract has been made obligatory for commercial gas consumers. Businessmen have to support us in this tough situation. SNPLwill ensure to supply gas to its industrial and commercial consumers
He said that the three months of extreme winter will be tough. The gas pressure may be low in some places that are on the tail.
Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGPL) has increased the price of gas more than doubled for its industrial and commercial consumers.
SNGPL asked its commercial consumers to renew the contract of RLNG rather than LNG. For those commercial consumers who don’t renew the contract with RLNG, their gas connection will be disconnected.
According to the report, LNG was being given to commercial consumers at Rs 1283 per MMBTU. From November 1, commercial consumers will get RLNG Rs 3763 per MMBTU. Commercial consumers include factories, shops, hospitals, tandors and other businesses.
Sources said that the average gas pressure in Sui Northern’s lines has dropped below 100 PSI.
Sources at Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Company have said that as the weather has changed, gas demand has started to increase, due to which the gas shortfall is likely to reach the highest level this year.
At present, the supply of gas is 1700 million while the demand is more than 2500 million cubic feet, next month the gas demand may increase manifold.
According to the announcement issued by SNPL, the price of gas has been increased by Rs. 1480 per unit. The price of gas per unit has been increased from Rs. 1283 to Rs. 3763. According to the announcement, the new tariff for commercial consumers is from November 1, 2022.

Statement of Chairman LPG Dealers Association Irfan Khokhar
Chairman of LPG Dealers Association Irfan Khokhar said that a historic shot fall of Sui gas is expected this year.
He said that the price of domestic LPG cylinders is increased by Rs 35 and commercial cylinders by Rs 134. The burden of inflation is shifted onto the poor domestic gas consumers.
