Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company (SNGPL) is facing a severe gas shortage. The system currently has only 4,300 million cubic feet of gas. The current volume of gas is the minimum level required to keep the system operational.
SNGPL’s officials have told, if there is a further shortage, the system will stop working. With the shutdown of the system, gas supply to Punjab and KP will not be possible.
At the first stage supply of gas to non-export industries has been shut down and the gas supply to the export industries has also been cut off since last night. In case of further shortage of gas, the system will stop working.
Sui Gas officials have told that in order to save the system and provide Sui gas to domestic consumers, consideration is being given to cut off gas supply to all industries in both the provinces.
According to officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company, which supplies gas to Punjab and KPK, gas supply to CNG, cement sector and fertilizer factories in both the provinces has been cut off.

Earlier In Sindh, more than 12 factories in Nooriabad and Kotri industrial zones were shut down due to the non-supply of gas by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
Adeel Siddiqui, Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), said that the non-supply of gas to the industrial zone has affected other factories, including textile, yarn, and cable makers. Has been supplied with gas which is exporting.
Adeel Siddiqui demanded that the gas needs of the industrial zone should be met. He asked the government to take immediate action to end this severe shortage of gas, otherwise, the export sector would be affected.
