Pakistan Telecommunication Authority PTA Issues Notices To Google And Wikipedia For Spreading Blasphemous Content

Breaking News: Islamabad, The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has issued notices to Google and Wikipedia for spreading blasphemous content, directing Google to remove illegal content immediately.

According to a statement issued by the PTA, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has issued notices to Google and Wikipedia on the issue of spreading blasphemous content through the platforms. As a result of complaints received from the Google Play Store regarding the uploading of an unauthentic version of the Holy Quran and misleading search results regarding the “current caliph of Islam”, in view of the very serious nature of the matter. PTA, Instructed to immediately remove such illegal content by contacting.

These notices issued to the relevant platforms have been issued under the Rules 2020 for Removal and Blocking of Illegal Online Content (Procedures, Surveillance, and Safety Measures) so as to avoid any legal action by the regulator be removed.

PTA further stated, ” In case the platforms remain non-compliant, PTA shall be constrained to initiate further action under Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and Rules 2020.”
