Electricity Distribution Companies Filed Petition To Increase The Price Of Electricity.
KARACHI (PNI): The hearing on the request of electricity distribution companies to increase the price of electricity has been completed. According to details, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) heard a request from electricity distribution companies to increase the price of electricity. After hearing the request of the government to increase the price of electricity by 80 Paisa per unit, it was decided that a detailed decision would be issued after reviewing the information provided by the companies.
During the hearing of the petition filed by the power distribution companies, Sindh’s member of NEPRA Rafiq Sheikh look angry. He said that the hearing is being held today and the amount demanded by QESCO and SEPCO has not been finalized yet. The last hearing was also adjourned without a decision for the same reason. In the meeting, Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) officials asked the authority to decide on the basis of the petitioner’s statistics. When the NEPRA Authority questioned the increase in capacity charges of IESCO, the CEO of IESCO said that these figures were given by the Central Power Purchasing Agency. The figures are for PPA, the money was sought by IESCO and not by CPPA.
It may be mentioned that the power distribution companies had requested that they allow collecting more than Rs 82 billion from their consumers in the last quarter adjustments of the financial year 2019-20. In this regard, it was requested that the price of electricity be increased by 80 Paisa per unit.
