The K-Electric substation in the SITE Industrial Area, Karachi collapsed.

The substation of K-Electric collapsed in the blast, which was set up for power supply in the SITE Industrial Area of  Karachi.

Karachi: The walls of the substation of K-Electric near Walika Chowrangi early this morning collapsed and the adjoining office was also severely damaged.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Kemari Fida Hussain Januri, it could not be ascertained whether the blast took place inside the substation or an underground tank of the adjoining plot exploded due to gas filling.
The cause could not be immediately ascertained. Electric staff will report the situation after the inspection.

According to police, a loud explosion took place near Walika Chowrangi at the site this morning, the sound of which was heard from afar.

Edhi Foundation and Chippa Foundation staff rushed to the spot on the report of the blast.

No casualties were reported from the blast, according to police sourses.
The fire brigade was also called on the spot but the fire was extinguished by that time which was prevented from further escalation.

According to police, a bomb disposal squad has also been called while K Electric staff is also inspecting

Rangers and police are also present on the spot.

Police initially believe that the blast was accidental due to a short circuit, but it is also believed that the underground tank of the adjoining plot exploded due to gas filling.

The final cause of the explosion will be submitted by the bomb disposal squad and K-Electric staff in a written report.
