The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Has Approved To Increase The Price Of Electricity By Rs 1.6 Per Unit.

The increase in the price of electricity will impose an additional burden of Rs 8.40 billion on consumers.The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Has Approved To Increase The Price Of Electricity By Rs 1.6 Per Unit.

A hearing was held in NEPRA regarding fuel price adjustment for the months of October and November in which NEPRA approved to increase the price of electricity by Rs.1.60.

The increase has been made in terms of fuel price adjustment for October and November. In the case of fuel price adjustment in October, electricity will be 29 paise per unit while in the case of November fuel price adjustment, electricity will be 77 paise more.

NEPRA has forwarded the decision regarding the increase in electricity prices to the Power Division. According to NEPRA sources, an average increase of Rs 3.30 in basic electricity tariff has been approved. The current average basic tariff of electricity is Rs 13.35.

After the increase, the average basic electricity tariff will be Rs 16.65. The new basic electricity tariff has been fixed after hearing the applications of ten 10 power distribution companies.

NEPRA sources said that the final notification of an increase in basic electricity tariff is to be made to the Power Division.

On the other hand, sources in the Power Division said that the decision of NEPRA has been received, work is underway on the basic tariff of electricity. The final decision on the increase in the basic tariff will be taken by the ECC and the Federal Cabinet.
